A.2 Frame
The A.2 Frame is slightly similar to the A.1. The A.1 has a 4 poster frame with wood or stone pillars at each corner. This A.2 frame instead has pillars on the middle of each wall instead of the corners. The bells were normally lifted up the side of the tower and in through one of the 4 gaps in the side of the tower. Colgate, St Saviour is an example of an A.2 truss. The North West side gap in the turret of Colgate is larger than the other three so this is which one it must have gone through. A.2 frames can vary in shape from Hexagonal with a cone shaped roof (like some small welsh church towers. Y Borth, St Matthew being an example of this) to square ones like Colgate.
